Security Modules screen

The new Security Modules screen lets iOS device users activate Cortex XDR security features, review available features in focus, and provide the required permissions.

Safari Safeguard module

The new Safari Safeguard module for BYOD is a browser extension that supports safe browsing using the native Safari browser, and is able to warn and protect against suspicious or malicious links and web sites, including use of known malicious JS files and company sanctioned web sites.

Network Shield module

This includes filtering by IP addresses and app bundle IDs.

New security events

The Cortex XDR agent app for iOS can now display information and notifications on four new security events for the “Network Shield” module (applies only for Supervised devices). The new events are:

The following table describes known issues in the Cortex XDR agent iOS app.

Feature

Description

N/A

The Cortex XDR agent app for iOS is not available when the Apple App Store is accessed from the People's Republic of China.

Network Shield module

Automatic registration, facilitated by providing the distributionID in the payload configuration profile for network filtering, is only supported in iOS version 17 or higher.

Safari Safeguard module

An issue in iOS versions 17.4 and higher causes the Cortex XDR agent's Safari Safeguard module, and anything based on Safari Web Extensions, to stop working after a short period of time. Apple has confirmed the issue, but a complete fix resolving the issue has not been released yet.
