View, import, export, create, and modify report templates
On the Report Templates page, you can view, delete, import, export, create, and modify report templates. You can also select and generate multiple reports. By using object-level access, visibility and interaction are determined by your role permissions combined with template ownership. Your view of the template library is personalized; you can only see report templates where you are the Owner, templates explicitly shared with you (or your user group/API key), or templates marked as Public.
System report templates provided by Palo Alto Networks are Public by default and available to all users, but they are read-only and their ownership cannot be transferred.
In the Report Templates table, you can manage access to individual custom templates by right-clicking a template and selecting the available management action:
Share: Available if tenant-level settings allow owners to share. Use this to add specific Users, User Groups, or API keys as Viewers or Editors. For more information, see Manage access to report templates.
Manage Access: Available if sharing is restricted by an administrator. Use this to toggle the General access between Restricted (private to the owner and invited users) or Public (visible to all users with the reporting component enabled in their role).
Change Owner: Available only to Administrators. This is used to transfer full control of a template to another user.
The following icons in the Report Templates table help you identify the security access of your templates:
: A Restricted report template you created that is not shared with anyone else.
: A report template you created that is currently shared with other users, user groups, or API keys.
: A report template created by another user that has been shared with you.
: A standard system report template provided by Palo Alto Networks. These are always Public, read-only, and cannot be deleted or edited, and their ownership cannot be transferred. Yet, you can Duplicate a system report template to create a custom version that you can then modify and share.
